Notice for Inbound Travelers to China (Updated December 29, 2022)

2022-12-30 07:40

Starting from January 8, 2023, COVID-19 will be managed as a Class B infectious disease in China, and Health SOP will be adjusted accordingly. China-bound travelers are advised to read the following information on the adjustment to facilitate traveling:

1.Nucleic Acid Test

Travelers are required to take nucleic acid test within 48 hours before flight departure, and can only take flight when the test result is negative.

For example, for the route Tarawa→Nadi→Auckland→Guangzhou, a nucleic acid test should be taken within 48 hours before the flight from Auckland to Guangzhou takes off. Considering the flight schedule, Nadi or Auckland are good options where you can take the nucleic acid test.

2.Health Code

Travelers are no longer required to obtain health code from the Chinese Embassy in Kiribati or Chinese Embassy and Consulate General in transit countries before departure.

3.Health Declaration to China Customs

Travelers need to declare the negative test result to China Customs by filling the Health Declaration Form either on Wechat mini-program of China Customs (scan the QR code below),or at https://htdecl.chinaport.gov.cn/htdeclweb/home/pages/healthDeclare/declare.html, or via the China Customs APP.

4.Entry Inspection

PCR tests will not be conducted for all travelers entering China. Those who have a normal health declaration and no abnormalities during the routine inspections at customs do not need quarantine after entering. Those with abnormal health declarations or symptoms such as fever will be subject to antigen testing by customs. For travelers with positive antigen test results and asymptomatic infection or mild cases, you can choose to take home/ residence self-quarantine or self-care. In other cases, it is recommended to go to medical institutions for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible. For travelers with negative antigen test results, the customs will conduct routine inspections.

The above measures will be effective for all passengers arriving in China after 12:00 am (included) on January 8, 2023.

China-inbound travelers are advised to pay close attention to latest trends of the pandemic, highly value their health, take protective measures before and during journey to lower risk of infection, so as not to affect their travel to China.
