On the 2nd of September, Kiribati and Shandong Province Promotion Function was successfully held in the KIFL building in Tarawa. More than 60 people attended this wonderful event, including Hon. Minister Booti Nauan, Hon. Minister Tinte Itinteang, Hon. Minister Ruateki Tekaiara, Hon. Minister Boutu Bateriki, Vice Chairman of Shandong Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Mr. Wang Shujian, Chargé d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy Mr. Zhao Jian, President Kautoa Tonganibeia of KCCI, officials from relevant Ministries, local medias, as well as a number of enterprises from Shandong Province and Kiribati.

During the function, Vice Chairman Wang Shujian, Chargé d'affaires Zhao Jian and Hon. Minister Booti Nauan delivered speeches. Representatives from Shandong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Provincial Department of Commerce, Liaocheng City, China-Pacific Island Countries Climate Action Cooperation Center and Chinese medical team introduced Shandong Province's cooperation need in agriculture, economy and trade, local government cooperation, climate change and health respectively. A number of enterprises from Shandong Province gave presentations to promote relevant business cooperation in heavy duty truck and fishery. Meanwhile, officials from the MFMRD and President of KCCI also introduced the fisheries, business development needs for future cooperation.

Through this function, the two sides deepened understanding of each other and explored various possibilities for future co-operation. Shandong is a natural partner with Kiribati due to its rich cultural heritage, economic dynamism and innovative spirit. Given Kiribati's unique Pacific identity, beautiful scenery, charming culture, and growing aspirations, there is a promising foundation for collaboration.
