H.E. Zhou Limin, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Kiribati, arrived in Tarawa on September 18, 2023. OIC of MFAI Teata Terubea, and OIC of Immigration Lolin Thomas Iuta greeted Ambassador-designate Zhou at the Bonriki International Airport. Diplomats from Chinese Embassy and representitives of Chinese community in Kiribati also welcomed Ambassador-designate Zhou at the airport. 

Ambassador-designate Zhou delivered a written speech upon arrival entitled “Jointly Writing A New Chapter Of China-Kiribati Friendship”. H.E. Zhou pointed out that since China and Kiribati resumed diplomatic relations nearly four years ago, bilateral relations have developed rapidly and achieved fruitful results, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples. He is ready to work with the people of Kiribati from all walks of life to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, make new and greater contributions to deepening political mutual trust, expanding practical cooperation, promoting people-to-people exchanges, and bringing greater benefits to the two peoples.
