On October 17, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Kiribati hosted the handover ceremony for China-Aid solar kits donated by Guangdong Province (Zhaoqing City) to Kiribati. Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Zhao Jian, Hon. Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy Tekeeua Tarati, and Chen Zuhuang, Head of the Guangdong Provincial Delegation and Director General of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the CPPCC Guangdong Provincial Committee, who was on a friendly visit to Kiribati, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.

Shen Ao, Head of the Zhaoqing Municipal Delegation and Vice Mayor of Zhaoqing City, handed over a prototype of the solar kits to Tarati and took a group photo.

Li Hongzhi, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, all members of the delegation, and the Secretary of MISE, among others, were also present at the ceremony.

This time, Guangdong Province will donate 1,120 sets of solar kits to Kiribati, which will be transported to Tarawa in the coming months and then distributed to outer islands through MISE.
