The Chinese Embassy Visits Local Communities Alongside China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation

On 26 March 2026, Mr. Zhao Jian, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy, led diplomats of the Embassy, alongside representatives of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC)—which is undertaking China-aided projects in Kiribati —on a visit to Buota Village and Aratokotoko Primary School in the North Tarawa region.

During the visit, Mr. Zhao held cordial discussions with teachers and students of the school, as well as villager representatives. He gained a detailed understanding of the study and living conditions of the teachers and students, and the production and daily needs of the villagers, while listening closely to the aspirations of local people. Following the discussions, Mr. Zhao, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, donated study supplies and sports equipment to the school, and presented consolation goods including rice and cooking oil to local villager households, conveying the friendly bond between China and Kiribati.

As part of this visit, Mr. Zhao also made a special trip to the camp and construction site of the South Tarawa Road Network Upgrade Project undertaken by CCECC. He inspected the project's construction progress on site, with a focus on learning about the difficulties and bottlenecks encountered during construction, coordinated efforts to resolve practical challenges, and pushed forward the implementation of the project.
