On May 15th, invited by honorable MP Tonganibeia B. Koakoa, the chef of our embassy went to Bouta to host a Chinese cooking workshop. Over 50 community members took part, and all spoke highly of the chef’s exceptional culinary skills. During the event, the chef demonstrated how to prepare Kung Pao Chicken and Stir-Fried Rice with Beef. Also, we shared delicious Chinese cuisines together.

There is much in common between the food cultures of China and Kiribati. In this workshop, the ingredients were sourced locally from Kiribati, while the cooking methods came from China. This harmonious blend of the two, much like the growing cooperation between China and Kiribati, promises to yield wonderful results.
