On September 24, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Kiribati hosted a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 7th anniversary of the resumption of China-Kiribati diplomatic relations. Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Mr. Zhao Jian and Kiribati Minister of Education Hon. Ruateki Tekaiara attended and delivered remarks. About 120 guests attended, including Hon. Speaker of the Parliament, Hon. Cabinet Ministers, Hon. Members of Parliament, religious leaders, representatives of the Unimane and Unaine Association, Chinese expert teams, representatives of Chinese enterprises in Kiribati, and Chinese community in Kiribati.

In his remarks, Zhao said that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan. China has adhered to high-quality development, new quality productive forces are growing rapidly, and scientific and technological innovation continues to make breakthroughs. China has remained committed to the path of peaceful development, put forward the Four Global Initiatives, and is dedicated to building a community with a shared future for mankind. Over the seven years since the resumption of China-Kiribati diplomatic relations, political mutual trust between the two countries has continued to deepen, practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges have grown increasingly close. China stands ready to work with Kiribati to bring China-Kiribati relations to new heights.

Ruateki Tekaiara extended warm congratulations on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 7th anniversary of the resumption of China-Kiribati diplomatic relations. He said that China is an important partner of Kiribati, and cooperation between the two sides covers various fields. He thanked China for its long-term assistance, noting that the China Medical Team to Kiribati and household solar equipment, among others, have brought tangible benefits to the people of Kiribati. The one-China principle is the cornerstone of bilateral relations, and Kiribati is willing to deepen cooperation with China in various fields and jointly promote the well-being of the two peoples.
