On September 28, 2026, the Kiribati Overseas Chinese Association held a grand event to mark the 77th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the 160th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Mr. Zhao Jian of the Chinese Embassy in Kiribati attended the event and delivered a speech.

In his remarks, Mr. Zhao extended festive greetings to the local Chinese community. He reviewed the momentous achievements made by the People's Republic of China over the past 77 years under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and spoke highly of the Association's positive contributions to fostering China-Kiribati friendship. Mr. Zhao emphasized that reaffirming Dr. Sun Yat-sen's historic call to "rejuvenate the Chinese nation" on his 160th birthday bears great significance for uniting Chinese sons and daughters at home and abroad to advance the cause of national reunification and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Mr. Lv Jingui, Chairman of the Kiribati Overseas Chinese Association, expressed heartfelt thanks for the Embassy's continuous care and support. He stated that the local Chinese community will bear in mind Dr. Sun's grand ambition to "rejuvenate the Chinese nation," inherit his patriotic spirit and dedication, and continue to serve as a bridge to contribute to the growth of bilateral relations.
