Kiribati is the only country in the world that straddles both the Equator and the International Date Line, witnessing the romantic moment when the world’s first sunrise arrives. Its 33 islands and reefs are scattered like a string of pearls across 3.5 million square kilometers of Pacific waters, with rich fishery resources and seabed mineral deposits such as manganese and nickel. It boasts not only magnificent scenery, abundant natural products, and a unique culture, but also new opportunities for development.

As an old Chinese saying goes, “True friendship knows no distance; even across ten thousand miles, we remain neighbors.” The friendship between the peoples of China and Kiribati has spanned the vast Pacific and grown ever stronger with time. Since the resumption of diplomatic relations in September 2019, China and Kiribati have upheld the principles of mutual respect and equality, supported each other on core interests and major concerns, continuously deepened political mutual trust, and achieved fruitful cooperation in trade and economy, investment, tourism, fisheries, infrastructure, education, health, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, setting an example for friendly relations between China and the Pacific Island Countries.

Bearing the envoy's credentials, I cross the vast seas; with a sincere heart, I foster amity with distant neighbors. It is a glorious mission and a heavy responsibility for me to serve as ambassador to Kiribati on behalf of my country. I am ready to work hand in hand with Kiribati and all friends who care about the development of China–Kiribati relations. Guided by the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, we will earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen the alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and Kiribati 20-Year Vision, share the development opportunities created by Chinese modernization, help Kiribati achieve sustainable economic and social development, and steer bilateral relations toward steady and enduring growth.
